Bowrider boats are a common and popular style of boat for many different purposes. However, they may not suit everyone’s boating needs equally. Understanding the pros and cons of owning a bowrider will help you determine if this is the type of boat you should choose.

Pros: Speed

Bowrider boats are really fast, thanks to their powerful motors that can reach up to 60 miles an hour. This capability makes bowriders good at sharp turns and it also makes them ideal for towing watersports participants, like wakeboarders or water skiers.

Pros: Compact

If you don’t have a ton of space to devote to storing a boat, then a bowrider is an excellent choice. These boats are smaller and more compact and lighter in weight than other boat styles, so they can easily fit in your garage.

Cons: Small

The compactness of a bowrider does mean that it is fairly small, which can limit how many people and how much cargo you’re able to take with you. You also won’t be able to take your boat off the Atlantic coast, since bowriders are too small for the open ocean.

Cons: No Enclosure

Pretty much all bowriders are open to the air. Some may have a T-top over the console, but in general, you’ll be fully exposed to the elements. If staying out of the sun and rain is important to you, you may need to find a boat with a cabin.
